Title: Haven
Author: this_is_kelly
Fandom: Merlin (BBC)
Pairing: Merlin/Arthur
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~69,000
Summary: A house is just Shelter, but a home is Haven. Merlin and Arthur have been together for nearly five years and now the time has come to answer the question: Do they want to extend their family beyond themselves? As they enter the world of adoption and raising children, they realize that parenting might just be the hardest job they've ever had. Sequel to Shelter.
Haven is a sequel to Shelter, a wonderful non-magic, modern-au fic that tells the story of how these Arthur and Merlin meet, fall in love and what the beginning of their relationship is like. Haven is continuation to that: how Arthur and Merlin adopt and what kind of parents they are. (I urge you to read Shelter before reading this, but I think Haven also works in its own.)
The story is sweet, but it also shows a real relationship with its ups and shows. In a long-term relationships everything cannot be perfect for forever, sometimes there's times when you hit a rough patch. I just loved how author described Arthur and Merlin's relationship, they are so in love and wonderful. The kids are their own individuals, and I just ♥ this story. The writing is good, the characters lovely and overall Haven is an enjoyable read. I recommend this to everyone who wants to read something long that is quarantined to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.
